Today marks the launch of Blackpool Zoo’s May Madness, which offers residents of Blackpool, Wyre and the Fylde half price admission for the entire month!

Locals living in postcodes FY1 to FY8, PR3 and PR4 can take advantage of the 50 per cent discount to meet latest arrivals Andina and Eskil the giant anteaters, try to spot the rare Red-necked wallaby twins in their mother’s pouch or catch up with favourites such as Zambar the Amur Tiger or Meisie the baby Western Lowland Gorilla!

Jude Rothwell, Marketing and PR Coordinator at Blackpool Zoo, said: “May Madness is our way of saying thank you to Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde residents for the support they give throughout the year and give them a chance to visit their favourite zoo for a fraction of the price.”

The zoo is planning another bumper year as it finalises a new enclosure in anticipation of the arrival of a pack of Iberian Wolves.

It has also welcomed several new babies in 2012 including Ring Tailed Lemurs, King Colobus monkeys, Red fronted Lemurs and wallaby and kangaroo joeys.

The birthing season is also in full swing over in the Children’s Farm with miniature goat kids, baby giant bunnies and a whole host of cute chicks!

With much more to see and do in 2012, locals could even take advantage of the half price offer and put the saving towards a zoo membership.

Starting at just £27.50 for a child’s membership up to £142 for a family of five, it gives unlimited access to the zoo until the end of 2012, for the price of just two and a half visits.

There has been a huge surge in interest in the package over the past 12 months and the zoo will be continuing a series of members-only events in 2012.

May Madness visitors need to provide valid identification as proof of address such as a driving licence or recent utility bill.

Up to six people per household can take advantage of the discount but it cannot be used in conjunction with family tickets or any other offers.

Zoo members can also bring their guests in at half price during the month of May.

Discount applies to all full price individual tickets, not for family tickets.
