InCoax foresees significant market potential in Finland

InCoax Networks, a leading provider of broadband solutions, is expanding its operations in Finland to support the country’s goals of increasing broadband speeds. The target is for everyone to have access to at least 100 Mbps by 2025 and symmetrical 1 Gbps speeds by 2030. Over the past six months, four operators have conducted pilot installations of InCoax’s system solution with successful results. Currently, around 2,000 apartments are connected, and InCoax has indications that it could reach 20,000 connected apartments by 2025.

Finland’s broadband initiative is part of the European digital agenda but requires property upgrades to existing infrastructure, which often consists of older copper technologies like DOCSIS 3.1 and VDSL. These technologies do not meet the national goals, creating a market for future-proof solutions like InCoax’s MoCA Access technology, which delivers symmetrical 2.5 Gbps services.

Finland’s housing market includes 2.8 million households, 500,000 of which are in rural areas with poor broadband coverage. Fiber-to-the-Building (FTTB) reaches about 1.3 million households, with cable TV connections serving another 1 million. Many households with older DSL and VDSL connections have insufficient data speeds to meet today’s needs. InCoax offers fiber operators an efficient solution by utilizing the existing cable infrastructure in properties, enabling quick and cost-effective internet speed upgrades. InCoax holds an advantage under Finnish regulations, where new fiber or data networks become the property of the building owner upon installation, often deterring operators from investing in new fiber installations in existing buildings. By utilizing existing coaxial cables, InCoax avoids extensive network installations and minimizes disruption for tenants (noise and in-apartment cable routing), making it a more attractive option for operators.

Helge Tiainen, Business Development Director at InCoax, commented on the company's prospects: “We anticipate rapid growth in our sales in Finland, aiming to connect 20,000 apartments next year. Our MoCA Access 2.5 technology not only meets the current demand for high-speed internet but is also scalable to support speeds of up to 5 Gbps in the near future.”

InCoax’s technology can be quickly installed in properties, and operators can easily connect apartments when tenants subscribe to the service, reducing the time to revenue and returns on the investment. The expansion in Finland strengthens InCoax’s position in broadband technology and contributes to the shift toward sustainable and efficient broadband delivery across Europe.
