Equipping train stations with real-time passenger information

Berlin, 22 September 2016 – IVU Traffic Technologies AG records its first incoming order from Mexico. The Berlin IT specialist for public transport is equipping several train stations with real-time information systems in the Mexican city Puebla.

With a population of 1.5 million, Puebla is the fourth largest city in Mexico – and at the same time, one of the most beautiful: its historical city centre dating from the colonial era is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In response to the increasing transport demands of the residents and tourists, Puebla is currently significantly expanding the local public transport system. The first BRT line opened back in 2013 and a tram network is currently in the planning stage.

In order to be able to provide passengers with up-to-date transport information and departure times at urban stations, the regional government of Puebla decided to introduce a modern passenger information system. IVU is initially equipping two stations with IVU.realtime. Three further stations are expected to follow.

The IVU passenger information system provides real-time data about the trains for the modern TFT displays on the platforms. IVU.fleet.server handles the positioning. Integrated interfaces to the control centre software and other peripheral systems ensure that passengers receive all the latest information from the trains reliably.

“Our solution adapts to the requirements in Puebla in an optimum way and can be expanded in a flexible manner, if necessary”, says Dr Claudia Feix, Head of Sales and Key Account Manager at IVU for Latin America. “We are continuing to expand our presence in Latin America with this order. That is an important signal, especially for the Mexican market.”
