Tim Nolan looks to expand KSM’s analytics and measurement capabilities

CHICAGO – June 19, 2012 – Kelly Scott Madison, one of the largest independent media companies in the Midwest today announced the hiring of Tim Nolan as director of technology for its digital team.

Nolan will play a key role alongside digital department head Kay Wesolowski to grow the organization’s analytical efforts. Ultimately, his plans include further evolving the team’s account service and campaign measurement capabilities by utilizing his expertise in digital media strategies. He will focus largely on creating statistical models rooted in proprietary algorithms to help KSM’s clients distribute online ads more effectively.

Previously, Nolan served as vice president of analytics at Chicago-based Imagination publishing. There he specialized in a wide array of digital marketing concentrations including search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), website and digital analytics and social media measurement for a substantial list of Fortune 500 accounts. His skill at developing extensive frameworks for measuring both quantitative and qualitative campaign success rates allowed him to progress quickly up the ranks at Imagination, and eventually caught the attention of executives at KSM.

KSM’s Chief Strategy Officer Jon Lichter gave his reasoning behind Nolan’s hiring by saying, "What really made Tim attractive to us is his ability to drive infrastructure growth in progressive companies like ours. In his previous roles, he demonstrated a clear command of digital media and displayed the business acumen necessary to implement high-level processes that ultimately benefited clients’ bottom lines. Those are two areas we care greatly about at KSM, so naturally we’re happy to bring Tim onboard."

Wesolowski also elaborated on KSM’s digital team expansion by discussing the changing industry landscape. "Digital has always been held to very high standards in regards to measurement and analytics. However, as all communication channels continue to evolve, other media formats are going to need to adopt some of the same stringent analysis methods. KSM has already established the proper foundation to anticipate that change, but Tim is here to take those efforts to the next level. He will not only improve our already robust digital framework, but also ensure that as advanced analytics permeate all concentrations, KSM is able to identify even better actionable insights across those segments," Wesolowski said.

Outside of work Nolan completed a master’s degree in various computer science focuses at DePaul University to support his passionate pursuit of knowledge about the ever-changing digital industry. "I’m constantly looking for new challenges, so coming to KSM is great because I see so many opportunities to advance the already strong digital infrastructure found here. My eventual goal is to enhance both our team’s efforts and the successes we achieve for clients. In a collaborative and adaptive atmosphere like the one found at KSM, that objective feels well within reach," Nolan said.

A native of the Chicagoland area, Nolan graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. In his spare time, he enjoys watching documentary films, reading philosophy books, staying up to date on political issues and trying out new Malbec wines.
