Lantmännen takes another step in its fossil-free initiative – new collaboration with OKQ8 at 30 locations in Sweden

Lantmännen has been working on the climate issue for a long time and has high ambitions. An interim goal is fossil-free transport and service vehicles in Sweden by 2030, and to be fossil-free in all markets by 2050.

Collaboration is key to Lantmännen's environmental work, and the latest collaboration is now being presented as Lantmännen Fastigheter, Lantmännen's business area Swecon and OKQ8 work together to develop the charging infrastructure and enable easy electric vehicle charging at 30 locations in Sweden. A unique collaboration that contributes to increased electrification and sustainable vehicle alternatives.

In November 2022, ground was broken for the expansion of the charging infrastructure at Swecon's facility in Uppsala. The expansion was largely carried out with electric work vehicles such as excavators and wheel loaders, which is yet another step in the transition to more climate-neutral operations.

"It's really a transition we're in the middle of, and it's very much an exciting development with the electric construction equipment.  Digging electricity, with electricity – yes, it makes the transition take an extra step forward. We see a growing demand for electric work vehicles as more actors seek ways to reduce their carbon footprint," says Paul Nocievski, Key Account at Swecon.

For many years, Lantmännen has had very ambitious sustainability goals, where Lantmännen Fastigheter is responsible for enabling the transition through installations at properties within its own property portfolio. In addition to the charging infrastructure that is now being made available, many facilities will be equipped with solar cells on the roofs of the properties.

"We are in the middle of the transition and we have, to say the least, ambitious sustainability goals, where the installation of charging posts and solar energy are priority areas," says Henrik Nilsson, Sustainability Manager at Lantmännen Real Estate.

"Through this collaboration, we can offer an extra service to our tenants as well as their customers, visitors and employees. The fact that we also carry out installations with electric excavators makes it clear that Swecon offers yet another dimension of vehicles. We are in the middle of the transition and we have, to say the least, ambitious sustainability goals where the installation of charging posts and solar energy are priority areas," says Henrik Nilsson, Sustainability Manager at Lantmännen Fastigheter.

The collaboration between Lantmännen Fastigheter, Lantmännens business area Swecon and OKQ8 will accelerate the transition to increased electrification in Sweden. The goal is to make it accessible and easier for those who drive electric vehicles, and without the cooperation between the companies, this would not have become a reality.

"We are helping Lantmännen Fastigheter and Lantmännens business area Swecon with their transition from fossil-fuelled to electric vehicles – a transition that can be perceived as complicated as it requires new practical and administrative solutions. Here, we provide advice and solutions that suit their needs. Every facility we install is unique and places great demands on good cooperation with both Lantmännen Fastigheter and Lantmännens business area Swecon. That's why it's great that we've already installed over 200 charging points together," says Helen Axelsson, Director B2B Sales OKQ8.

The goal is to offer charging at around 30 of Lantmännen's facilities around Sweden, and charging stations have already been installed in Uppsala, Eskilstuna, Örebro, Enköping, Linköping and Södertälje, among other places, and Karlstad is next.
