The Beijer Alma scholarship for 2017 is awarded to Zigurds Sudints, development engineer at Lesjöfors in Latvia. Zigurd won the prize for his innovative approach, enthusiasm and competence.

Annually, Lesjöfors´ owner Beijer Alma hands out a scholarship from its founder Anders Wall’s foundation to young entrepreneurs. The prize is awarded to an employee in a Beijer Alma company that excels in extraordinary entrepreneurship, motivation and creativity. The 2017 scholarship goes to the engineer Zigurds Sudints employed in the Latvian company Lesjöfors LV. He was awarded the scholarship thanks to his materials knowledge, skills and for his outstanding motivation for continuous improvements in technology and processes as well as the ability to customize machines and tools.

Rationalizations of the entire group

An example of improvement that is realized, thanks to Zigurds Sudints, is an automation process that has significantly increased productivity and due to its success was later introduced in our China factory. He has also developed a unique, durable stamping tool for Bombardier able to adapt to extremely hard and thick materials.

Kjell-Arne Lindbäck, CEO of Lesjöfors, had the honour of handing over the scholarship at a ceremony in Liepaja in April:

"We are very pleased that one of our highly qualified employees has received this award. Sharing our skills is a cornerstone in the Lesjöfors group and here Zigurds Sudints is a genuine role model.”

Lesjöfors LV is located in Liepaja and has the most extended and modern spring manufacturing in the Baltic states. The company produces springs and stampings to customers all over the world.
