Lesjöfors springs in original ice carriage

A unique, to say the least, ice racing competition for all kinds of vehicles took place during the Funäsdalen Speed Weekend in March 2010. Lesjöfors sponsored a custom-built racing kick-sled with springs.

During Funäsdalen Speed Weekend, hundreds of enthusiasts are gathered for the craziest motor event on ice. Mopeds, motorcycles, cars and all kinds of custom-built vehicles have the same goal; to push their carriages to as high speed as possible. One of the most extraordinary vehicles in 2009 was a customized garden tractor which reached speeds around 200 km/h (!).

Snow on the ice
In the 2010 competition, one of the most odd features on the ice was a rebuilt kick-sled with a jet motor, built by Lars-Erik Björkman from Bispgården, Jämtland. Lesjöfors sponsored the carriage with springs for the motor valves. So how did the race go for the racing kick-sled?
- The valves performed way beyond my expectations, but unfortunately there was too much snow on the ice and deep wheel tracks which meant bad grip for a kick-sled. But it sure was a lot of fun! Lars-Erik Björkman said after the race.

We might have to come back with a report from the kick-sleds racing conquests next season.
