Lesjöfors supplies clock springs to military vehicles

Lesjöfors has received a large order of clock springs, customized to strengthen the heavier and more and more equipped all-terrain vehicles used in military operations. All in all, clock springs amounted to 3.6 MSEK will be delivered to BAE Systems in Örnsköldsvik.

BAE Systems in Örnsköldsvik, formerly known as Hägglunds, is one of the world-leading manufacturers of military vehicle systems. The company has for many years been very successful on the international market for military all-terrain vehicles and battle vehicles. 

Customized clock spring allows heavier load and more protection
Earlier this year, BAE Systems received an order from the British Army of the armored all-terrain vehicle BvS10 MkII, designated for operations in Afghanistan in spring 2010. As a result of the fact that the vehicles are heavier and heavier loaded and now carries more extensive mine protection, the standard torsion springs needed to be strengthened. Therefore, BAE Systems turned to Lesjöfors for consultation. As a result of meetings and discussions with BAE Systems designing engineers, a customized clock spring was designed to strengthen the chassis springs.
