Mott MacDonald has appointed Davide Stronati as its new Group sustainability champion, responsible for further integrating sustainability best practice and new thinking into the consultancy’s projects, culture and business operations. Davide succeeds newly-retired Paul Ashley, who helped shape much of Mott MacDonald’s sustainability agenda and approach since 2009.

Davide has broad experience of working in strategy, leadership and change management. Throughout his career he has demonstrated that both sustainability and corporate responsibility contribute to strong bottom line financial performance. Joining Mott MacDonald in 2006 Davide was instrumental in developing the Group’s first corporate responsibility report in 2007. Following this he was seconded to Anglian Water's @one Alliance where he helped to embed sustainability in Anglian Water’s investment programme. Anglian Water is now one of the UK's leading firms on sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Before joining Mott MacDonald, Davide was a senior environmental advisor and provided policy analysis, strategic environmental and technical advice to the government of the Friuli–Venezia Giulia region in Italy. As a member of the Italian governmental task force, Davide worked on European infringement procedures, liaising with the Italian Regions, the central Ministry of Environment and the European Commission.

Commenting on his appointment, Davide said: “Mott MacDonald is ideally placed to lead the way in delivering sustainability through our work in sectors ranging from transport, water, energy and buildings to industry, communications and international development. We’re here to help our clients benefit from sustainability as a value creation practice, while developing an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and leadership in all that we do.”

“As Group sustainability champion I will contribute to the continued growth of the business while strengthening Mott MacDonald’s position as a leading organisation in the area of sustainability,” he added.

Davide is both Cambridge and Harvard educated and received the 2010 Harvard Award from Utilities & Service Industries Training for leadership on corporate responsibility and sustainability. He is a former Officer in the Italian Navy and ski mountaineering leader on the Alps.
