NCC to expand Landvetter airport terminal
NCC has been commissioned to expand the international terminal at Göteborg Landvetter Airport outside Gothenburg. The project is being carried out in the form of a partnering arrangement with the client Swedavia. The estimated order value is SEK 760 million.
The terminal building needs to be expanded due to the increasing number of passengers travelling to and from Landvetter Airport in recent years.
“Above all, we need to be able to accommodate larger airplanes and manage the flow of passengers coming from non-Schengen countries,” says Charlotte Ljunggren, Airport Director at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.
NCC’s assignment involves adding three gates for airplanes and two for buses to the existing terminal. When finished, the terminal will be approximately 10,000 square meters and it will be possible to separate arriving and departing passengers.
A BREEAM sustainability assessment of the new terminal will be performed to secure BREEAM certification and a minimum Very Good rating.
“NCC is highly experienced in dealing with large-scale airport projects and is very familiar with airport operations,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
NCC and Swedavia will perform the project under a partnering arrangement. The first steps involve preparing the organization, project engineering, construction documents and target price. The principal contract is scheduled for completion during the second quarter of 2017.
In the autumn of 2016, NCC will start preparatory work such as moving a number of buildings and groundwork.
Subsequent to further board decision within Swedavia, construction of the new international terminal is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2017 for completion by the start of 2020.
The estimated order value of SEK 760 million includes project engineering, preparatory work and construction of the terminal. Preparatory work will be registered among orders during the third quarter of 2016, while construction of the terminal is expected to be registered among orders during the second quarter of 2017.
