We are very enthusiastic about our acquisition of PacketFront Network Products AB, and we are looking forward to continuing to develop the business together with the company management that the company so successfully has established over the past 10 years.

The ”Fiber Access Holding AB” acquisition is the next natural step in the process to further develop our potential in fiber based broadband. Myself and the whole team within PacketFront Network Products AB look forward to work with Fiber Access Holding in the development of existing and next generation access-products.

We are proud of our ability to maintain and operate a large distributed open-access network with a minimum of resources. PacketFront’s ASR6000 is a key factor to continue this lean operation as we move to Gigabit access.

The ASR6000 was designed to make the migration to IPv6 and GTTH as simple as possible, something that Mälarenergi and other customers have stated as a key criteria. We have listened and Mälarenergi’s continued confidence in PacketFront is proof of that fact.

We are glad that such a visionary company as Mälarenergi Stadsnät relies on PacketFront’s products and competence in the area of Open Access broadband networks.

A modern infrastructure with high speed Internet and other communications services being offered to businesses and residential customers is a key factor for rural communities such as ours.

The ASR6000 from PacketFront takes us into the Gigabit Age and enables us to provide the wide selection of high performance services that our customers are demanding, and also gives us the benefit of efficient network operations where the ASR6000 is a key element. In order to provide our customers with Gigabit Internet, we just add the ASR6000 to our network topology and then connect customers to it. Migrating to the ASR6000 also enables us to upgrade the core network to 10Gbit/s.

The ASR6000 product builds on our experience gained by delivering over one million broadband Ethernet ports, and it contains a wide range of features for reducing operational costs for large, distributed Ethernet networks. With full IPv6 compliance and the accelerated network processor, the ASR6000 offers market-leading security- and service features in a package that we are delighted to deliver to Dala Energi.

PacketFront Network Products’ mission is to offer cost-effective and intelligent routing and switching solutions to FTTx and Enterprise customers, as well as to new customer segments. Since the founding days of PacketFront, it has been our philosophy to deliver smart network nodes that provide distributed, cost-effective control of the network traffic; for users, for services and flows. We have done this in combination with highly automated configuration options. Time has proven the validity of this solution and today, more than one million end-user ports have been sold. We are extremely excited about our business opportunities as demand is constantly growing; not only for increased bandwidth, but for increased bandwidth with secure- and controlled traffic flows.

This is a natural decision in order to expand our routing and switching business into new customer segments, and at the same time simplifies the PacketFront Group structure. There is an excellent and very experienced team driving PacketFront Network Products AB and I am convinced they will harness the full potential of our products.

We have selected the ASR6000 because of its ability to deliver customized services for the municipality network. In particular, the ASR6000 feature for authenticating and enabling different services for different end-users such as teachers and students in the school part of the network were key features in selecting the platform.

The ASR6000 being deployed into the municipality network in Karlskrona will provide the local government with a future-proof infrastructure that can be adapted to their demands for secure and flexible services. At the same time the network operator, Affärsverken, will benefit from simplified operations and re-use of infrastructure resources through its already deployed broadband network.

'After this divestiture PacketFront can focus on its three remaining businesses, our FTTH Access Division, our FTTH Network Solution Division and PacketFront Software Solutions AB, while still having access to a state-of-the art CPE portfolio. We will now invest further in all areas - sales, marketing and R&D – of these three businesses to further enhance their already strong positions as suppliers of innovative equipment, solutions and software for broadband service providers.’

We have selected the PacketFront solution in order to deliver state-of-the-art technology using Fiber-to-the-Home in our municipalities to our customers. In addition, we have chosen a direct approach with PacketFront and we are very pleased with this new partnership and the possibility to benefit from their skills and knowledge of networking solutions - both now and in future projects. We are looking forward starting our Gibabit-to-the-Home roll-out in 2012 in close collaboration with PacketFront.
