Nobina has won the tender of a traffic contract in the City of Malmö. The agreement comprises traffic by around 100 buses and runs for a period of ten years, with the option for additional three years. The total value is estimated to almost SEK 2.5 billion over the contract period. As of June 2014, Nobina will be responsible for the entire bus traffic in the City of Malmö.

The contract award notice from Skånetrafiken means that Nobina continues to expand its responsibility for public transport by bus in the Skåne region. Since 2011 Nobina operates the other half of the city traffic in the traffic area Malmö Central. The tender outcome may be appealed until 19 April.

- We are very pleased with the trust to now get to operate the entire bus traffic in the City of Malmö. It provides us with great opportunities to reach higher quality in the traffic, as well as synergies, says Ragnar Norbäck, President and CEO of Nobina.

The traffic contract’s compensation includes a substantial part of travel incentives, combined with a fixed compensation. The buses will initially be provided by Skånetrafiken, and Nobina do not need to invest in new buses until after three years when the bus fleet will be renewed gradually.
