Nordnet’s new fund company has today received a license from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) to conduct fund management. The application was submitted at the end of September last year. The business will be conducted under the name Nordnet Fonder AB.

- The license application process has gone according to plan and we have had a good dialogue with Finansinspektionen during the handling of the case. For the past six months, we have been building an organization that will be able to deliver interesting and cost-efficient funds to Nordic savers, and we are now looking forward to starting our operations. Our own fund company gives us better control and flexibility over our fund business, says Lars-Åke Norling, CEO of Nordnet.

In connection with granting a license for the fund company itself, Nordnet Fonder has also received a separate license for twelve new funds. The funds are so-called allocation funds, ie fund-of-funds with a fixed allocation between shares and interest rate-related instruments, which are automatically re-balanced. Three funds will be launched per market where Nordnet has operations – Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland – and the funds are denominated in local currencies. In the next phase, Nordnet Fonder will take over the responsibility for the funds currently managed by Öhman under Nordnet's name. These are four Nordic index funds and an allocation fund, primarily intended for pension savings.

- Our own fund company gives us better speed and accuracy towards the market when it comes to new funds. Our first launch will be three allocation funds per market where we operate, with different risk levels and automatic re-balancing. These funds are building blocks of an automated savings service that we will present to the market in the near future, says Gabrielle Hagman, Head of Mutual Funds at Nordnet.

The CEO of Nordnet’s fund company is Carl Fredrik Lagerholm, who most recently comes from Danske Bank where he has held the role of Deputy CEO of Danske Bank’s fund company. The board of Nordnet Fonder comprises Tonika Hirdman (chairman), Carina Tovi, Erik Kjellberg, Erik Lidén and Gabrielle Hagman.

Legal advisor to Nordnet during the application process has been Harvest Advokatbyrå.
