Nordnet’s business developed well in the third quarter. We are seeing continued strong interest in savings and investments, and a high level of activity in the market. In the third quarter, we welcomed more than 50,000 new savers to our platform, and we now have more than 1.1 million customers in total. Our customers’ savings capital amounts to a record SEK 478 billion. Combined, the high levels of activity and growth gave a strong financial result for the third quarter
We are continuing to develop the customer experience and have set our sight into building the world’s best platform for savings and investments. Our websites and app are being continuously improved through minor and major releases affecting navigation, as well as concrete products and functions. Worth mentio-ning during the quarter is a new function for initiating monthly savings based on the customer’s individual savings targets, savings horizon and preferences in terms of sectors or focus. We have also expanded our platforms with a variety of content intended to inspire better investment decisions
Residential mortgages are an exciting area and we have well succeeded here in our role as innovators in a conservative industry. To date, we only offer this product in our Swedish store, which is also where we have the market’s lowest interest rates. Although, we are also exploring how we can launch residential mortgages in Norway and Finland in the future, in our role of chal¬lenger to the traditional players
This is the best financial result in Nordnet's history, and we have reached new record levels for trading activity, number of customers and savings capital. I would like to extend a big thank you to all customers and employees who have made this possible. The trust of the private savers is something we earn every day, and we will continue to work hard updating our interfaces, launching new products, and offering high service and stability.
Our ambition is to build the world's best platform for savings and investments. That goes for both how our digital store is structured as well as what is on the shelves. During the quarter, we strengthened our fund offering by implementing ESG data for ETFs, which makes it possible to save sustainably in exchange traded funds. Also, at the end of June, we launched four international index funds in our own name.
The corona situation made the first quarter of 2020 a very special period, and we are all affected on a personal as well as a professional level. From our perspective, I can see that there has been a great interest among private individuals to start saving in stocks and funds. Our customer inflow during the first quarter reaches a new record level. In total, we have welcomed almost 90,000 new savers to Nordnet, and in March we reached the milestone of one million customers. The activity from the private savers is high on all fronts – the number of trades ends up at over 14 million, which is more than twice as much as the first quarter of 2019, and net savings are almost 24 billion, which exceeds savings for the entire 2019.
From a financial perspective, the first quarter became a strong period for Nordnet. Our revenues come in at SEK 644 million, while costs are in line with last year. Overall, we can show a profit before tax of SEK 367 million, which is the best quarterly result in Nordnet's history.
During January, Nordnet's customers set a new trading record. In total, the private savers made almost 3.5 million transactions during the month. The previous record was from October 2018 and amounted to just over 2.8 million transactions.
The activity of the private savers is often high in January, and this year has continued the good momentum from the end of last year. From the middle of the month, the stock exchange gained new fuel as the reporting season picked up, and the activity has also been boosted by concerns about the corona virus's impact on society and the economy.
The fourth quarter became a positive and eventful time for Nordnet. We launched a new web service in the Swedish market and won “Small Business Bank of the Year”. We improved our loan offer by increasing the number of securities eligible as collateral, as well as introducing a new model for margin lending, according to which, well-diversified portfolios allow greater scope for borrowing.
Over the past three months, we have welcomed more than 31,000 new savers to our platform, our highest-ever organic growth in new customers for a single quarter. Our customer growth over the past 12 months amounts to a strong 19 percent. Our customers’ savings capital also reached a new high, ending the year at SEK 395 billion. The strong growth and high level of activity mean that we can present income in excess of SEK 400 million for the quarter, corresponding to 23 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
Nordnet is one of the strongest brands in Finland within savings and investments, and through this co-operation we will strengthen our position even further. I would like to say a warm welcome to the new customers from S-Banken. Our whole team will do it’s best to give them excellent service from day one.
Nordnet is an excellent partner, since it’s known as the favorite broker for private investors. Our brokerage customers will get a new home with Nordnet, where they for instance will be able to open the new equity savings account. S-Banken’s focus will be on developing asset management services for both beginners in savings as well as more advanced investors.
Our overall ambition is to become the Nordic private savers’ first choice. To achieve this goal, we have to offer a world-class user experience regarding interface, products and stability in the platform. In the third quarter, we launched our new web service in both Denmark and Finland. Notable among new functions are free real-time prices and five levels of order depth, a responsive interface and a number of new functions for sustainable savings
Our business is continuing to grow at a good pace, and the financial results for the period are strong. On the bottom line, we show a profit of SEK 81 million, which is more than 200 percent better than the same quarter last year. Behind this figure is a maintained cost level and a stable growth in customers and savings capital, which provides a higher revenue base. All of our markets show double-digit customer growth on an annualized basis, and for Nordnet as a whole, the increase in new savers in the past 12 months reached 19 percent
The second quarter of 2019 was a good period in Nordnet’s history. From a financial perspective, we can report good cost control and increasing income. Customer growth remains high and the savings capital reached a new record of SEK 354 billion
For some time, we have designed and developed the next generation web service for Nordic savers, with Norway as the first market where we launch. With the new platform, we have taken a major step towards our vision to make our customers the best investors they can be. In addition, we have successfully integrated Netfonds operations with Nordnet’s, improved our offering to entrepreneurs and implemented several functions for sustainable savings

Both Nordnet and the savers can look back at a good first quarter. For Nordnet's part, I would like to highlight a strong result with high revenue and good cost control, a high inflow of new customers and savings, as well as a stable increase in our lending portfolio. The private savers also have every reason to be satisfied with the quarter – they have a fantastic period with broad stock market upturns behind them. In addition, the participants in Nordnet’s stock lending program received an extra payment of SEK 3.3 million to share, which means that savers with endowment insurances at Nordnet can count on higher returns on their savings than if they had it somewhere else
2018 was an eventful year for both Nordnet and the savers. There were major fluctuations on the Nordic stock exchanges, and in some periods, strong negative development. However, the savers did not passively follow the developments from the stands, but instead were very active and reviewed their investments to a record extent. Nordnet’s own agenda was at least as rich in content as the savers with a number of product launches and partnerships, as well as a strong growth in customers and savings
We make this transaction for a couple of reasons. First of all, we want to optimize our capital structure and strengthen our primary capital. Furthermore, we want to facilitate continued growth of the business – Nordnet is a bank that grows rapidly in terms of savings capital, customers and lending. In addition, our acquisition of Netfonds will be completed shortly, subject to approval by the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority
The Nordic stock exchanges continue to show strength. On an annual basis, all Nordic markets are up around 10 percent, and the private savers have been very active during the month
From an income perspective, the period October-December was our strongest quarter ever and characterized by high activity, for both private savers and Nordnet. In October we launched our stock lending program, which we were given the award “Savings Innovation of the Year” by the Swedish magazine Privata Affärer. During the quarter, we announced the acquisition of the Norwegian bank Netfonds and we were named “Stockbroker of the Year” in Denmark. Customer growth remains strong and we welcomed more than 23,000 new customers during the quarter, and passed the one million active accounts milestone. Our customers have been more active than ever and made the highest number of trades for a single month in October. The shaky and declining stock market is, however, affecting the willingness of savers to invest new capital in the market.

December was a negative ending to a dramatic year on the stock markets, and all Nordic stock exchanges fell considerably during the month. Private savers have been very active for much of 2018, and during the year Nordnet set a trading record for a single day as well as for an individual month.
With this transaction, we consolidate and develop our position in the Norwegian savings market. Netfonds is a pioneer in Norway when it comes to online-brokerage. Just like Nordnet, the company has challenged structures and traditional banks for many years. Now we want to take the best from Netfonds and combine that with the best of Nordnet. Our goal is to build Norway's best user experience in savings and investments, for the benefit of our common customers
I am very proud of our competent employees who have built this company from scratch. The merger of Netfonds and Nordnet creates a competence hub in digital securities trading, and we now become part of a larger Nordic organization with many possibilities

With our stock lending program, we create a third type of return on stock investments in addition to value increase and dividends. We are the first company in Sweden with a program of this kind. For the first time, the Swedish savers are in a transparent way able to receive a type of compensation that earlier has been reserved for the large institutions
Three out of four Nordic exchanges had a negative development in November, with Copenhagen as an exception. The activity was high at the beginning of the month, but decreased towards the end, and in total our customers made over 2.3 million trades.
During the month, Nordnet has passed a million active accounts, which is something of a milestone. Almost half of the number of accounts is in Sweden, and our second largest market measured in this way is Finland with just over 25 percent.
In October, the Nordic exchanges were characterized by sharp price drops and high volatility, and the private savers have not been passive during this dramatic development. The trading activity reached a record high level – many investors have realized profits and sold their holdings, while others have invested in shares that are much cheaper than before. The market has been generally nervous, and for daytraders with a really short investment horizon, October 2018 has offered great opportunities to make a lot of money
Our operations are growing at a good pace, and both the quarter and 2018 to date have been strong periods in terms of income. For the period July-September, our income amounted to SEK 305 million, slightly more than 5 percent higher than in the third quarter of 2017. We have welcomed 24,000 new Nordic savers to our platform during the quarter and our customers' total savings capital amounts to SEK 324 billion, an increase of slightly more than 20 percent in the past year
In August, we introduced a new app for iPhone, which has been much appreciated by the users. Nordnet's success is not based on a secret algorithm or an exclusive patent. Our value lies in being able to translate the commitment and competence of our 500 employees into a user experience that our clients perceive as world-class, enabling them to realize their aspirations as savers
Nordnet is on an exciting change journey where rapid technological development, continued increasing regulations and more aware customers set the agenda for how the user experience will evolve going forward. During his time as CEO, Peter has initiated this change work with high intensity, and built the foundation for the world's best customer experience in savings and investments. May started off with a bullish market, which declined rapidly at the end of the month. Contributing factors were the political crisis in Italy as well as uncertainty about trade agreements and customs, which reduced the willingness to take risk. Nordic stock exchanges generally performed well, with Stockholm as the only exception, and the trading activity of the private partners is on the same level as the month before
April was a strong month for equities, and a counter reaction to the negative development the month before. The markets were favored by less focus on global politics and more interest in quarterly reports, where the figures overall were better than expected. Three out of four Nordic stock exchanges rose in April, with Copenhagen being the only stock market on minus. Oslo was best in the class and went up by almost eight percent, fueled by rising oil prices
Continued pressure on the stock markets led to fewer trades by private investors in March, compared to earlier this year. An increasing concern for inflation and rising interest rates, in combination with US actions about increased tariffs and increased risk for an international trade war, has characterized the month and gave a negative sentiment
February started with high volatility and extreme activity, triggered by a large number of company reports and investors worrying about rising interest rates. Nordnet set a trading record for a single day in the beginning of the month with over 200,000 trades. The initial rapid decline in the market was replaced by a slow recovery and lower activity, and as a whole, the Nordic stock markets closed around zero
The fourth quarter continued to be an intensive period in the process of building the new Nordnet. Our higher pace in product development and increased visibility in the market has had a positive impact on our customer growth, and we welcomed 29,100 new customers to Nordnet during the quarter, which is the highest figure ever. Both trading activity and fund savings have increased, and during the period, our customers made 6.9 million trades – most in Nordnet’s history. Our loan products are popular in the market, and mortgage loans account for the largest increase. Growth in the fourth quarter is 35 percent, and over the past twelve months our mortgage portfolio has grown by over 150 percent
The Nordic stock markets had a positive start in 2018, with an overall positive sentiment and high activity among the savers. In the US, stock exchanges rose to new record levels and continued the strong trend from last year. Trading in cannabis shares and crypto currencies have been clear themes throughout the month, and the bitcoin continued its journey south and decreased with 40 percent only in January
This is, according to me, the most prestigious award a Swedish bank can receive. We have increased the pace in our product development and we are very happy that the jury recognizes us for that
We are broadening our business on several fronts, and today we present a first step in an expanded initiative in mortgage lending. The Swedes currently have mortgage loans of around SEK 3,000 billion and there are about fifteen players in the market. Despite the big competition, I believe that many consumers feel that they get about the same conditions everywhere. It leaves the field open to a challenger like Nordnet, with a strong brand and digital distribution, to offer a better deal and reach a larger customer group
Many people see it as a difficult process to negotiate their mortgage rate. Therefore, we offer a mortgage with low interest rate that is already negotiated. We see this as a way for us to seriously challenge the Swedish mortgage market and will continuously evaluate and adapt the offer to our customers' wishes
