Local Men Set to ‘Conker’ Three Peaks for Charity
On the 16th, 17th and 18th of October 2010, a four-man team from the Conkers visitor centre in Moira, at the heart of The National Forest, will embark upon the legendary ‘Three Peaks’ challenge in aid of two national charities. Gerry O’Brien, head ranger from Albert Village; Tom Chamberlain, a ranger from Castle Gresley and Tom Astle, catering assistant from Woodville will face the three peaks – ably assisted by their driver, Conker’s general manager, Chris Sturdy. The challenge is to climb the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales – namely Ben Nevis - the tallest at 1,344
