Kungsfiskaren, a subsidiary of Peab, has been contracted to remodel low-rise buildings in Västberga for Svenska Bostäder. The project encompasses five blocks and 195 flats, as well as 25 commercial premises. The contract is a collaborative contract valued at about SEK 170 million.

The blocks were built in 1945–1949 and are in now in considerable need of renovation. The buildings were renovated during 1970s and some of the characteristic architectural features from the 1940s were removed. In the coming remodelling, these features will be recreated and preserved as much as possible, but be adapted to today's technical standards.

Comfort for the residents will be improved in many ways. In conjunction with remodelling, several measures will be taken from the environmental perspective: reduced energy consumption through additional insulation of facades, new low-energy windows, ventilation systems with heat recovery and energy-efficient equipment. Noise-dampening measures will be conducted with additional insulation and noise-dampening windows towards the E4 highway.
