Peab has won the contract to carry out the electrification works at Blekinge Coastline. Blekinge Coastline is today a non-electrified railroad between Kristianstad and Karlskrona. The contract also contains rebuilding of railway yards in Solvesborg, Morrum, Karlshamn, Brakne-Hoby and Ronneby, lowering of tracks, reconstruction of bridges, and extensive works with tracks, electricity and signals. The railroad-technical part will be carried out by Balfour Beatty Rail AB. Banverket (the National Railroad Association) is the client and the contract amounts SEK 280 million. The project is a performance contract based on partnering where the client and the contractor in common will find out the most efficient cost alternatives. Work will begin in June 2005 and it is estimated to be ready during 2007.
