Peab builds central kitchen in Vantaa
Peab has been commissioned to build a new central kitchen for Palvelukeskus Helsinki in Vantaa. The customer is Kiinteistö Oy AB Pakkalantie 30 and the contract is worth EUR 35 million, corresponding to approximately 402 million Swedish kronor.
Palvelukeskus Helsinki is establishment function of the City of Helsinki that supports the city's preschools, schools and educational institutions as well as the welfare sector with basic services such as meal, cleaning and care services.
The project consists of a building divided into spaces for food production, food distribution, logistics and technical facilities as well as support functions. The building will be built next to the current central kitchen. In the future, the new central kitchen will prepare meals for preschool and school pupils as well as Helsinki inhabitants in need of care.
The building will be energy efficient and will utilize, among other things, geothermal heat, solar panels and heat generated in cooking.
"We're happy to be part of this very interesting project where our expertise will be useful in many ways," says Ilkka Laakeristo, Region Manager Peab.
The work will start in January 2025 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027.
The project will be order registered in the first quarter 2025.
