Peab builds extension to sports hall in Oulu, Finland

Peab has been commissioned to extend a sports hall in Oulu. The customer is Oulun Tilapalvelut and the contract is worth EUR 19 million.

The extension will be a total of 7,700 m2 and contain a ball game arena with stands that seat 1,500 spectators, an exercise room, a gym with gymnastic equipment, a dance hall, a martial arts room, a running track, a kitchen and a restaurant as well as changing rooms and offices.

The contract also comprises a thorough renovation of the old Oulu Hall including new lighting, modern electronic technology, a new water and sewage system and the renovation of existing premises.

Renovation of the old hall will primarily be carried out in summer months when it is closed. The extension will be built while the hall is in use.

The project is a turnkey contract and construction will begin June 2019. Occupation of the extension is planned for January 2021.

The project will be order registered in the second quarter of 2019.
