Peab has been commissioned to build Norra Hallsås School in Lerum. The customer is Lerum Municipality and the contract is worth SEK 390 million.

Lerum needs to increase the number of places in schools to meet the growing number of students. Peab will therefore build a new school for 800 students from preschool to the ninth grade. The project also entails premises for a school adapted to 50 special needs students. A standard sized sports hall will also be built on the grounds. In addition to the school, Peab is responsible for building a new main road with a turnaround and bus stop as well as bicycle and pedestrian paths. Outside the school’s perimeters Peab will build school roads with safe crosswalks and clearly marked road lines.

“We’re pleased and proud to be part of community development in Lerum. Peab has extensive experience in building both schools and infrastructure and we look forward to starting up construction,” says Liselott Bergkvist, Region Manager Peab.

The school has been designed to preserve the nature in the area with the goal of keeping existing natural topography and vegetation. In order to preserve biodiversity Peab will build an amphibian pond next to the school grounds as well as a tunnel for amphibians. Downpour solutions will also be created that bind the school area together with nearby Säve River. Among them will be a large pond and adjustments on the school grounds and in the surrounding nature so that the whole area can handle large amounts of water from downpours.

The project is a turnkey contract with strategic partnering. Construction will start immediately and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2023.
