Peab has been commissioned to build Björkås School in Ulricehamn. The customer is Ulricehamn Municipality and the contract is worth SEK 255 million.

Björkås School in Ulricehamn will have capacity for 525 students and a total of 21 classrooms. The new school is designed to have seven home bases, each containing three classrooms, six group rooms, a common room and a work room for staff. In addition, there will be a designated area for a special needs elementary school for 30 pupils. The school is being built to be certified according to Miljöbyggnad Silver.

"Peab is proud to have been entrusted by Ulricehamn Municipality to build Björkås School. We have extensive experience in building schools and have built many locally in recent years. We look forward to working together to create an inspiring environment that contributes to education, well-being and development. I think this project is a good example of Peab's commitment to building for the future and creating long-term value for our communities," says Andreas D'Arienzo, Region Manager Peab.

The schoolyard will be 37,000 m2 and one of the fundaments of both the school and the schoolyard is to be in close contact with nature. Among other things, an existing forest area will be preserved to create an inspiring and natural environment for the students. An outdoor storage room and an outdoor studio will also be built in the schoolyard.

"We are pleased to have chosen Peab. It is a good company with extensive experience and references from similar projects," says Johan Abrahamsson, project manager at Ulricehamn Municipality.

The total area of new school, together with the connected buildings, will be 10,000 m2 and the buildings will mainly have wooden facades of yellow and dark green pine. The school building will be three stories and in addition to the educational premises Peab will build a full-size sports arena with bleachers, a dining room with its own commercial kitchen and spaces for crafts, music, home economics and media.

Over the past few years Peab has built Särla School in Borås, Noltorp School in Alingsås and Lindblad School in Vårgårda in the Södra Älvsborg area.

The project is a traditional contract and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2027.

The project was order registered in the fourth quarter 2024.
