Peab has been commissioned to build two fire stations for property investment company Hemsö in Oulu, Finland. Hemsö will rent the fire stations to Oulu City. The contract is worth EUR 21 million.

The project consists of building two different fire stations. The new main station of 6,400 m2 gross area will be built in Linnainmaa and after that the current fire station in Raksila will be torn down and a new, smaller fire station of 2,700 m2 will be built in its place.

“Building the new fire stations significantly supplements our existing order backlog due to both the project’s size and duration. We are proud to be part of securing rescue operations for the future,” says Matti Joensuu, Region Manager Peab Finland.

“For us it’s really important that contractor has a local presence in Oulu. We appreciate good collaboration and expertise. Peab offers us the right competence for the project,” says Simo Karjalainen, head of development, Hemsö.

The project is a turnkey contract and construction is planned to begin in the summer of 2020. The second fire station is expected to be completed in the spring of 2023.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2019.
