Peab has been commissioned to build Fremmerholen’s new wastewater treatment plant in Ålesund. The customer is Ålesund Municipality and the contract is worth NOK 202 million.

Ålesund Municipality’s existing wastewater treatment plant delivers clean water to around 70,000 inhabitants. The new wastewater treatment plant will be vital in ensuring the supply of clean water to Ålesund and surrounding communities. The project includes building a processing plant, a wastewater cleaning plant and a two story pump station. Peab will also be responsible for the groundwork and plumbing installations.

Environmental requirements are very high since some of the construction area is on a source of drinking water. Two of the planned measures are fossil free construction sites and doing most of the work with Peab’s own skilled workers.

“We’re proud to contribute to ensuring a reliable supply of clean water to residents in the area. Peab will deliver high quality infrastructure that will serve the local community for many years ahead. We look forward to working closely with the municipality to carry out this project efficiently, safely and sustainably,” says Kjetil Nordang, Region Manager Peab Norway.

Construction will begin in October 2023 and wastewater treatment plant is expected to be up and running in the autumn of 2026.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2023.
