Peab has been commissioned by developer Västfastigheter to rebuild and extend sections of Södra Älvsborg Hospital. In total the contract is worth SEK 1,025 million and the entire project is expected to be completed in 2021.

In order to meet current and future needs in healthcare the infection unit, psychiatrics and medicine laboratory at Södra Älvsborg Hospital will go through a thorough renewal and refitment.

In 2016 the Västra Götalandsregionen regional board adopted a plan for three major investments in healthcare at Södra Älvsborg Hospital in Borås. Peab is now starting up construction. This is a partnering contract that will be carried out in close cooperation with the developer and end customer.

The project entails renovations in the existing hospital as well as the construction of two brand new buildings.

New construction is preliminarily estimated at 23,000 m2 while around 10,000 m2 will be renovated.

“This is one of the most interesting and important projects in Borås where extensive and greatly needed investments will be made in healthcare and the buildings that hold it. After very good cooperation in the first phase we are now moving on to construction and really looking forward to it,” says Stefan Lindvert, Operations Manager at Peab in Borås.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter of 2017.
