Peab has been commissioned to build 1.5 kilometers of new trunk road from Baggbölevägen to Klockarbäcken and to broaden Vännäsvägen as far as Norra länken. This is part of the new ring road surrounding Umeå. The customer is the Swedish Transport Administration and the contract is worth SEK 268 million.

The project includes a new interchange, five new bridges and a roundabout. It also contains extensive water and sewage work including a raw water pipeline and district heating.

“The new ring road around Umeå is being built primarily to improve air quality, increase passability and raise traffic safety in central Umeå. Naturally we are pleased to be a part of this improvement. It will also open opportunities for Umeå to develop and grow,” says Jörgen Eriksson, Region Manager Peab.

The project is a turnkey contract. Construction will begin in August 2019 and is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2021.

The project will be order registered in the second quarter of 2019.
