Peab rebuilds the Administrative Court building in Gothenburg
Peab has been commissioned to rebuild and extend the Administrative Court building at Heden in central Gothenburg. The property owner and customer is Skandia Fastigheter and the Swedish National Courts Administration is the tenant. The contract is worth SEK 110 million.
Through this project the building will better meet the needs of the Administrative Court with a four story extension of court and office space of about 2,300 m2 and renovation of existing premises while operations are ongoing. The extension will also contain a new entrance and security passage.
“We’re pleased to have been entrusted with building the new the Administrative Court building together with Skandia Fastigheter. Building space for the judiciary system is complex and requires a great deal of us as contractors. We’re proud to contribute with our expertise in this project,” says Stellan Haraldsson, Region Manager Peab.
The project will be intensely focused on circular construction to reduce its climate impact and will be certified according to BREEAM “In Use”. The framework of the extension will largely consist of timber and reuse will be high on the agenda.
“Climate impact from building material during the construction phase is a prioritized matter for Skandia Fastigheter and our targets regarding reducing fossil emissions are very high. Minimizing the amount of steel and concrete and using a wooden frame as well as trying to reuse the material already in the building reduces climate impact,” says Henrik Pihlblad, Project Manager at Skandia Fastigheter.
The project is a turnkey contract. Construction is planned to start in November 2023 and the project is expected to be completed by December 2025.
The project will be order registered in the third quarter 2023.
