Peab receives civil engineering contract for future industrial area in Timrå
Peab has been commissioned to install water and sewer lines for the future industrial area Torsboda Industrial Park in Timrå Municipality. The customer is MittSverige Vatten & Avfall AB and the contract is worth SEK 400 million.
Timrå Municipality is preparing for community development with the establishment of businesses in Torsboda Industrial Park. In order to meet the need for a water and sewer system in this area an installation of new pipelines had to be planned.
“I’m proud that we with local resources will enable an expansion of the area and Timrå Municipality. We will be laying pipelines in sensitive nature and this requires extensive studies and close collaboration with various environmental authorities,” says Jörgen Eriksson, Region Manager Peab.
The pipelines will run about 15 kilometers with different pipes for drinking water, wastewater and process water, involving both pressure and gravity-flow pipes. In order to take care of wastewater in a resource efficient and sustainable manner a new sewage treatment plant will be built and the existing one in Söråker will be part of the process solution.
“This project means a lot for the future of Timrå’s growth and development. We are considerably expanding our water and sewer capacity and taking into account other future establishments and homes. The timetable is challenging but with this contract in place we are ready to start construction in the fall,” says Tomas Larsson, Water and Sewer Business Area Manager at MittSverige Vatten och Avfall.
The project is a turnkey contract in partnership. Construction will begin in the autumn of 2023 and is expected to be completed in December 2025.
The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2023.
