Peab receives decontamination contract in Bergen, Norway

Peab has been commissioned to decontaminate the ocean floor in Puddefjorden in Bergen, Norway. The customer is the Environmental Authority of Bergen Municipality and the contract is worth NOK 126 million. 

The project consists of clearing trash from the bottom of the ocean, dredging some areas, removing contaminated soil mass to a landfill as well as covering the ocean floor and preventing erosion.

All in all 450,000 m2 of ocean floor will be cleared and covered by 220,000 m3 of rock.

The work will commence at the end of June 2017 and continue until November 2018. The project is part of Bergen Municipality’s project Cleaner Ports.

The project will be registered in the second quarter of 2017.
