Peab upgrades train station in Svedala

Peab has been commissioned to upgrade Svedala Station and build a pedestrian tunnel. The customer is the Swedish Transport Administration and the contract is worth SEK 106 million.

The project entails building a pedestrian tunnel while replacing the middle platform with two new longer side platforms that make it possible for longer trains to stop at the station. The pedestrian tunnel will go under the rails. Currently to get to the middle platform travelers use a boomed walkway that crosses the rails. The new platforms will be accessible from both the north and south sides of the station.

“This upgrade will make train travel more accessible for residents of Svedala and we’re pleased we can contribute to that,” says Göran Wiking, Region Manager Peab.

The project is a traditional contract. Construction will begin in November 2023 and is expected to be completed in March 2025.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2023.
