PONSSE TO ESTABLISH A SUBSIDIARY IN SOUTH AMERICA

The new Ponsse subsidiary will be responsible for establishing and developing
Ponsse’s sales and service network in the area. Headquartered in Brazil, the
company will sell PONSSE forest machines, provide related servicing and support
Ponsse’s dealer network throughout South America.

Mr Claudio Costa (42), M.Sc.(Econ.), has been appointed President of the new
Ponsse subsidiary. For the past 20 years, he has held various management
positions at Valtra do Brasil, most recently as director responsible for
marketing, sales and service operations in South America.

"In Brazil alone, the pulp and paper industry uses annually over 100 million
cubic metres of wood harvested from cultivated forests. In the near future, the
amount of cultivated forests, mostly eucalyptus plantations, is estimated to
increase from today’s approximately 6 million hectares to 11 million hectares,
considerably boosting harvested volumes. The world’s leading forestry companies
have and will continue to make major investments in pulp and paper industry in
South America, further increasing the demand for eucalyptus and, consequently,
forest machines in the market. Through our own subsidiary, we will ensure
Ponsse’s strong presence in this growing market," affirms Arto Tiitinen,
President and CEO of Ponsse Oyj.
