Scandic opens third hotel in Frankfurt

Scandic is continuing to grow selectively in Germany by partnering with property investors to reposition existing hotel assets in strong markets. Scandic has now signed a long-term lease agreement with the German real estate investment manager Union Investment and will open a centrally located hotel in one of Europe’s most important business destinations, Frankfurt. The hotel will be repositioned and upgraded to Scandic’s brand and operational standards before reopening in 2027.

The new hotel marks another step in Scandic’s continued German growth journey and strengthens the company’s position in Frankfurt, Germany’s fifth-largest city and one of Europe’s leading financial and business hubs. Located next to Messe Frankfurt, one of the world’s largest and most visited trade fair venues, the hotel is well positioned to serve international and domestic business travelers as well as leisure guests visiting the city for events, culture and experiences.

Scandic has signed a long-term lease agreement with Union Investment and the hotel will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment and be adapted to Scandic’s brand and operational standards before reopening in 2027. The repositioning will include upgraded rooms, modern design, carefully sustainable material choices, and an enhanced guest experience throughout the property.

The new Scandic hotel in Frankfurt will be positioned as a modern and attractive business hotel in a highly strategic location. The hotel will offer 296 rooms, and inviting all day restaurant and bar space, a 100-square-meter outdoor terrace, events and exhibitions on the ground floor with a total of five rooms offering 500 sqm for meetings.

The project also reflects Scandic’s growing relevance as a partner for property owners and investors in Europe. Through the repositioning of existing hotel properties in attractive destinations, Scandic can support long-term value creation while expanding its brand presence in selected growth markets.

With its location in the northwestern part of Frankfurt, the new hotel will complement Scandic’s existing portfolio in the city. Together with Scandic Museumsufer in the south and Scandic Hafenpark in the east, the three hotels will form a strategic network around the city center, strengthening Scandic’s ability to serve guests across Frankfurt’s most important business, cultural and visitor areas.

Scandic Frankfurt will be certified according to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel is expected to open in 2027 following refurbishment.
