Scandic Hotels, the largest hotel company in the Nordic countries, has been rewarded once again for its long-term and focused work to reduce its environmental impact. In the recently-published CDP Climate Change Report 2018, Scandic was ranked at the A- level, which means that it is among the very best companies within the hospitality industry worldwide.

Scandic has been reporting to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2016 and has now succeeded in raising its score to A-. This is very much the result of the company’s goal-oriented and systematic work to reduce the environmental impact of its operations.

- It is thanks to the dedication of our 18,000 team members that we’ve been able to achieve this. Together with our guests, they inspire us to do even more. We’re extremely proud of this achievement and we will continue to push ourselves to be even more sustainable, says Vanessa Butani, Director Sustainable Business at Scandic Hotels Group.

- CDP congratulates Scandic Hotels for achieving the A- level, demonstrating continuously strong environmental management procedures, and acknowledges Scandic for their third consecutive participation within the Climate Change program, says Micaela Quesada Longgren, Engagement Manager at CDP Europe.

Scandic is currently developing a new sustainability strategy that will be launched later this year. It promises a sharpened focus and challenging goals firmly embedded in the company’s operations.

Scandic has always been a pioneer when it comes to integrating sustainability in its operations. The company began reporting on environmental aspects in as early as 1996. Today, 90 percent of Scandic’s hotels are environmentally certified (by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in the Nordic countries, the EU Ecolabel in Poland and the Green Globe in Germany).

The CDP is a non-profit organization that offers the only global system for companies to measure and disclose their environmental performance.
