Scandic’s future leaders highlighted through internal program
The talents of 2016 have now been selected for Scandic’s internal leadership program, Talent@Scandic, a one-year program that supports employees with the potential to become future leaders within the Group.
Scandic's award-winning internal academy, Scandic Business School, is celebrating its 20thanniversary and has offered professional training to several thousand employees over the years. One of its programs is Talent@Scandic, which is designed to identify and develop high performing, talented employees to become future hotel managers and leaders within the Scandic Group.
The program reinforces Scandic's belief in investing in people and building strong leaders that is in line with Scandic's needs as a rapidly growing company. One focus of the program is to enhance internal expertise in all areas from Housekeeping and Food & Beverage to central functions.
One of the talents is Sunita Kharel, Housekeeping Manager at Scandic Anglais in Stockholm. Sunita has been employed at Scandic for six and a half years and is looking forward to starting the program.
“It feels great to get the chance to develop further within the company. It means a lot that Scandic believes in me and is making an investment so that I can continue to develop,” says Sunita.
Talent@Scandic has been running for six years and each year, 10 to 15 participants to become future General Managers after completing the program.
“During all of the years, everyone has completed the training and about 80 percent have attained higher positions within 12 months of completion. This shows that the program is effective and that Talent@Scandic is an important part of our success story,” says Stephan Stahl, Head of Learning & Development.
This year, 20 employees have been selected from Scandic’s hotels and head offices in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Germany. The program is made up of several different components that focus on the functional areas of Scandic's operations and key drivers such as Commercial Excellence, Operational Excellence and Service Excellence.
