Alstom stärker sin ledande ställning inom höghastighetståg och snabbtåg

Den 30 november presenterade Alstom de senaste höghastighetstågen av typen Pendolino vid sin anläggning i Savigliano i Italien, som levereras till den brittiska järnvägsoperatören Virgin Trains inom de närmaste veckorna. Alstom lät också avtäcka 4e generationens höghastighetståg, AGV Italo, som snart ska levereras till den privata italienska järnvägsoperatören Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV).

Virgin Trains har trafikerat West Coast Main Line längs Storbritanniens västkust sedan 1997 och har blivit normgivande bland tågföretag inom den privata sektorn. Efter den senaste tidens avregleringar förbereder NTV nu lanseringen av sina tjänster i Italien, och är Europas första privatägda operatör av höghastighetståg. Båda företagen har valt Alstom som sin industriella och tekniska partner i lanseringen av järnvägstjänster på sina respektive inhemska marknader.

Virgin Trains kör för närvarande 53 Pendolinotåg i Storbritannien. Dessa är konstruerade och tillverkade i Alstoms fabrik i Savigliano och underhålls vid servicedepåer runt om i Storbritannien. Under 2012 kommer 3 nya tåg att levereras och ytterligare 62 vagnar att läggas till Virgins vagnpark. Vagnparken har till dags dato avverkat 175 kilometer och transporterade förra året över 28 miljoner passagerare, vilket är dubbelt så många som för sju år sedan.

År 2008 beställde NTV 25 helt nya höghastighetståg av typen AGV av Alstom. Tågen ska sättas i trafik i början av 2012 på sträckan Turin-Salerno (via Rom och Neapel) samt på sträckan Venedig-Rom. Ordern innefattar ett antal av Alstom Transports tillverkningsanläggningar; 17 tåg tillverkas vid La Rochelle-anläggningen i Frankrike och åtta tåg tillverkas i Savigliano. Övriga platser i Italien omfattar Bologna-anläggningen som är specialiserad på signalering och hanterar ERTM/SMCT samt anläggningen Sesto San Giovanni nära Milano som tillhandahåller traktionssystemen.

At the presentation of the new trains, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, President of Alstom Transport, accompanied by Tony Collins, CEO Virgin Trains, and Giuseppe Sciarrone, MD NTV, recalled the experience that Alstom has gained through 30 years in the sector of high and very high-speed trains. « The unique position that Alstom holds on the global market is a result of its product offering, which is the most complete, ( articulated and non-articulated trains, tilting rains, single and double-deck), as well as the knowledge of different markets and the needs of our customers and also the capacity, thanks to our local presence, to provide maintenance of our trains during their whole life cycle », he said.

Giuseppe Sciarrone emphasized « the huge innovation which is the introduction of competition on the very high-speed network and the challenge of a new train. The experience of NTV, now ready for commercial service, is awaited with great interest and will be studied carefully in other countries. Meeting such a challenge in such a short time frame would not have been possible without the enormous experience in high speed and the technological reliability of Alstom, who has produced these ultra modern trains.”
