The SmartX Platform gives programmatic buyers access to local premium publishers across the US, Europe and Australia

London and Sydney, 21 March 2013 - Today smartclip, Adconion Media Group’s multiscreen video and brand advertising platform, launches the SmartX Platform, a programmatic video ad platform enabling advanced selling within a private exchange environment in the US, Europe and Australia.

The SmartX Platform is a fully integrated customisable platform, which enables the execution of online video campaigns through RTB, programmatic interfaces and direct, guaranteed inventory. This launch will give programmatic premium buying a boost as publishers and advertisers can operate together in a standardised yet customisable RTB-enabled environment for every online video campaign across multichannel inventory including mobile and Connected TV.

Built from the ground up over the last 18 months, the multimillion-dollar investment in the SmartX Platform marks the next generation of online video advertising encompassing sophisticated exchange technology within ad serving. This unique platform developed by smartclip delivers improved effectiveness for the buying of digital video advertising at scale for advertisers, agencies and trading desks while also increasing the relevance of the delivered video ads for the consumer. The efficiency of programmatic access combined with advanced yield optimisation capabilities creates enhanced revenue opportunities for publishers while allowing for greater control and protection of publisher data.

Roland Schaber, COO and co-founder at smartclip, commented, “We are seeing increased demand from our clients for programmatic access to premium inventory. Our team has built the next-generation video supply side platform empowering publishers with the granular controls and transparency required in order to more effectively collaborate with the buy side to help marketers better achieve their goals."

“Leveraging our Digital Distribution Platform from Adconion and including the fully integrated technology stack that allows for programmatic access to multiscreen  video and branding inventory creates an unparalleled efficiency for the trading of advertising inventory while providing the protection that premium publishers, application developers and content owners require", added Schaber.

The SmartX Platform provides a solution to help overcome the commercial barriers to RTB in the online video and brand advertising space while remaining focused around flexible, customised technology that fits directly into a publisher's internal workflow.

"The efficiency of RTB clearly supports the concept of automated trading, yet the solutions to protect the commercial aspects of the transactions have been limited up to this point. Most platforms have simply adopted the auction strategy of performance display RTB without focusing on the commercial strategies for both premium content and video advertising. The SmartX Platform provides an optimised solution for all aspects of RTB while eliminating the risks involved in enabling automated access to video inventory”, said Ricky McClellen, CTO at smartclip.

smartclip has a network of 700 publishers and services more than one billion video streams every month.
