Stag Bakeries will be making their debut appearance at Hotelympia in a bid to obtain more business for the sweet and savoury biscuits specifically designed to be used by restaurants and caterers.

Stag has developed an extensive range to be specifically used by caterers and chefs and specifically hopes to target chefs looking for alternative savoury biscuits to serve alongside a cheeseboard. The cocktail sized biscuits can also form the base to make canapés. Stag will very much be trading on their island heritage and will showcase their traditional Stornoway Water Biscuits that are made following a traditional recipe and hand-baked to perfection.

Thanks to their island location in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in the Scottish Outer Hebrides, Stag will also offer samples of their traditional, authentic rustic Scottish Oatcakes as well as the acclaimed Seaweed range, which is made with a unique blend of seaweed sustainably sourced from the Isle’s sea lochs. The Stornoway Water Biscuit with Seaweed, which was voted Best Scottish Speciality Product 2013 at the Great Taste Awards and Scottish Oatcake with Seaweed, a three-star Great Taste Award Winner, provide chefs with an interesting alternative biscuit for cheese.

As well as their savoury offer, Stag will be launching their new Sweet Straws. The straws are light, crunchy, and a sweet-twist on traditional savoury straws and available in four fruity flavours: Apple & Cinnamon, Blackberry & Basil, Raspberry & Chocolate and Sour Cherry & Vanilla. They will provide caterers with an interesting alternative to a traditional biscuit.

Charlie Macdonald, owner at Stag Bakeries said “Hotelympia will provide Stag with a launchpad to showcase our catering range of sweet and savoury biscuits to the foodservice market. We are keen to grow this area as it is becoming an ever-important sector for speciality food producers like us. Gastro pubs are increasingly popular and in turn outlets such as this are looking to source good quality products and food with provenance is also in great demand. We are looking forward to making many contacts at the show to help grow and develop the business further.”

Hotelympia is the UK’s largest foodservice and hospitality event and will take place from 29thFebruary – 3rdMarch at London’s ExCeL.

Stag’s baking heritage on the beautifully unspoilt Outer Hebridean island of Lewis stretches back to 1885 and although the bakery is now modern, many things have not changed since those early days.

Skilled people, attention to detail, traditional recipes and time honoured methods are still at the heart of this artisan bakery and it shows in the products

The product range includes sweet and savoury biscuits.
