    In January, demand for air travel was stable, despite uncertainties such as the global situation, economic uncertainty and personal finances. International travel continued to increase during the month, which mainly benefited our major airports but also Luleå Airport. Domestic travel, on the other hand, continues to show a weaker trend. Although there are significant uncertainties, we expect increased traffic and a greater range of routes at our airports later this spring and during the summer. At the same time, there are signs that the economic situation will improve somewhat in the period ahead, which is also likely to increase demand for air travel.

    Norwegian to launch a new route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport to Dubrovnik ahead of the 2024 summer season

    Ahead of the summer of 2024 Norwegian is launching another new direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, this time to the popular city of Dubrovnik in Croatia. The addition of the new route means that Norwegian will start in total five new routes from Gothenburg Landvetter next spring. The new route to Dubrovnik will be operated twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting May 1, 2024.     The artisanal bakery Gateau opens in Arlanda this autumn

    A number of shops and restaurants will open at Stockholm Arlanda this autumn as the first stage of the Market Place is completed. One of the new additions is Gateau, a craft bakery with a French twist that will offer passengers a premium-quality classic Swedish fika, or coffee and pastry.     Ryanair continues to invest heavily in the Swedish market and develop its operations at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.     During January, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports increased more than 90 per cent compared to January 2022 to 2.1 million. Travel is thus back to 75 per cent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Swedavia, together with its partners, is mobilising resources even now for an intensive summer travel period through major recruitment efforts all across its airport ecosystem as well as through measures to best make use of the airports’ capacity and improve the passenger experience.     Air travel in 2022 was characterised by a strong recovery in both air travel and Swedish connectivity, with a sharp increase in the number of destinations from Swedavia’s airports. Despite a weak start to the year due to the Omicron variant and other global concerns, Swedavia welcomed nearly 28 million passengers in 2022 – an increase of more than 130 per cent – compared to nearly 12 million passengers in 2021.
