Tieto to deliver global Production System to International Paper
TIETO CORPORATION TRADE RELEASE 27 October 2014 at 9.00 EET
The new MES system (Manufacturing Execution System) meets the global requirements of the paper industry.
Tieto, the largest Nordic IT services company, and International Paper (IP), a global leader in packaging and paper throughout the world, have signed an agreement for the delivery of an MES solution based on Tieto’s standard SAP-based MES solution.
The MES system, which will initially be rolled out to almost 26 North American sites, covers all of the production shop floor execution with connections into SAP’s Extended Warehouse Management covering the complete Manufacturing to Delivery Process.
“With our legacy MES approaching end-of-life, we sought out a solution that closely integrates with our SAP operating model while allowing us to adapt to new business requirements. Our partner, Tieto, brings an SAP-based solution, paper industry experience, SAP expertise, and a global delivery model that will be the key to our success,” says Joseph Rahme, Senior IT Manager of International Paper.
“Tieto is a strong player in the paper industry: we have more than 220 MES installations globally. Tieto’s advantage is that we can handle large projects and have flexible business models together with tailor-made governance principles. The agreement with International Paper is based on our standard SAP-based MES solution. This enables us to develop together with IP the most mature MES ever, which meets all requirements of the paper industry,” adds Thomas Hohenauer, IP customer and delivery executive and country manager of Tieto in Austria.
