Eva Halldén new Managing Director of Ringhals
Eva Halldén has been appointed new Managing Director of Ringhals AB. She takes up the position on 1 January 2012. The current Managing Director, Bertil Dihné, has decided to step down before his retirement in 2012.
Eva Halldén is currently Head of Fleet & Technology, which is one of the units within Vattenfall's nuclear power business area. She has worked in the nuclear power industry since the beginning of the 1980s, and has, among other things, held leading positions in Westinghouse and the Studsvik group. Eva Halldén has worked at Vattenfall since 2009. She has a Master of Science in chemical engineering from KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology).
Her main focus will initially be on strengthening and completing the safety enhancement programme which has been in progress at Ringhals for the past couple of years.
"Eva Halldén is highly experienced and competent, and I am convinced that she, along with our motivated and hardworking staff, is the right person to take Ringhals into a new era after the major modernisation projects. But she is also the right person to rebuild the trust of the authorities and the public in our operations at Ringhals," says Peter Gango, Vattenfall's Head of Nuclear Power and chairman of the Ringhals Board of Directors.
"I am looking forward to leading Ringhals and its staff into a new phase after the main part of the extensive modernisation work is completed. It is now up to us to rectify the remaining shortcomings and improve confidence in Ringhals, which is an important player in the country's electricity supply," says Eva Halldén.
Bertil Dihné, who will be 65 in 2012, has been in charge of Ringhals for the past five years - a period which has been very intensive and demanding. Eight projects worth SEK billions have, among other steps, been undertaken in recent years to modernise the four reactor blocks.
With this year's major modernisation of Ringhals 4, the main part of the modernisation programme is now complete. Bertil Dihné has therefore, together with the Ringhals Board of Directors, decided that this is a suitable time to hand over to someone else to lead Ringhals into a new era.
"Bertil Dihné has made a great contribution during his time at Ringhals. Ringhals is, in most respects, a very modern nuclear power plant and is now ready to generate electricity safely and consistently for many years to come," says Peter Gango.
