Viking Line to add more departures to Tallinn over the summer – “We are looking forward to a very busy summer season”

During the summer months, Viking Line will again expand its capacity on the Helsinki–Tallinn route. Tourism to Estonia is up sharply this spring, and route traffic is growing in both directions. With the additional departures between June 18 and August 14, more travel options will be available particularly for families with children and passengers on shopping trips.

Passenger volume on the route to Tallinn always increases significantly in the summer months. Ever since 2014, Viking Line has arranged additional departures during the summer between Helsinki and Tallinn. M/S Gabriella and M/S Amorella from the Stockholm route are now being added as reinforcements, making an additional sailing to Tallinn in conjunction with their stays in Helsinki. The two vessels are a long desired and necessary complement during the busiest season of the year.

”We are looking forward to a very busy summer on the Tallinn route. The best thing for people who want to be sure to get a space for their car on a specific departure is to book ahead of time since car spaces are often sold out. The summer favourite for families is still the easy six-hour picnic cruise with many different activities for the youngest passengers. It is gratifying to see the boat decks filled with happy summer passengers again,” says Viking Line’s Communications Manager, Christa Grönlund.

Overall, tourism to Estonia has seen a clear upturn, and passenger volume continues to rise as summer continues. There is no longer a typical Tallinn tourist since, given these quick, convenient links, more and more people are choosing to visit Tallinn and the rest of Estonia for shopping, services and experiences.

”Tallinn and its surroundings offer a variety of holiday options and something for everyone to do and see. People can cycle around the city one day and enjoy the attractions and parks, or take their car and travel around Estonia, where distances are short and people have a chance to see and experience a great deal in just a few days,” Grönlund suggests.
