Visma is establishing a new technology centre in Porto this spring. The launch reinforces the company’s leadership in innovation and commitment to creating technology for a resilient society. The tech centre will employ around 50 people during its first year and reach 200 employees by 2025.

The Visma Group consists of over 14,000 people across Europe and Latin America, of which 6,500 are developers. The new tech centre will strengthen its already extensive tech community, making it one of the largest in Europe. It will serve as one of Visma’s main competence hubs, focusing on advancing development in security, AI, and product design using a wide range of technologies.

“Over one million customers trust Visma to provide technology and services for resilience.

To provide our customers with the best product and technology to run their everyday business, we need to stay at the forefront of product development. To make that happen, we are dependent on having talented people on board, which is the main reason why we are truly excited to establish our new tech centre,” said Visma’s CEO Merete Hverven.

“We are very proud to welcome Visma in Portugal,” said Luís Castro Henriques, Chairman & CEO of AICEP, the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency. “Visma’s investment in the new Innovation Hub in Porto is a clear demonstration of Portugal’s attractiveness for IT operations as a result of experienced and highly qualified talent and a vibrant tech-oriented business environment.”

The next big tech hub

Porto is home to a thriving tech scene on Portugal’s west coast, with nine tech universities nearby. The Porto region is on the rise to become one of the next big tech hubs in Europe, with an increasing number of international companies establishing a presence in the city.

“We chose Porto because of its tech-oriented, international environment. It scores high on indexes for both innovation and cyber security. And with access to top talent from several tech universities in the area, we see great potential for future expansion,” said Hverven.

Demand for tech talent

Tech talent is in high demand across Europe, and Visma continuously recognises the importance of investing in technology skills.

“Finding and keeping the right talent is key to Visma’s future success, and the competition is tough for the best minds. However, with our entrepreneurial culture and dedicated tech community where creativity and sharing ideas are valued, we are certain to attract top talent in the area,” said Hverven.

The new technology centre will play a key role in developing state-of-the-art products that reinforce Visma’s competitiveness and leadership in innovation.

The new technology centre offers an attractive work environment, and Visma is currently recruiting for several new roles. Visit Visma’s Tech Portugal career pages for more information.
