Wallenstam is building 300 new smoke-free rental apartments in central Åkersberga in Österåker Municipality. Blasting has now been carried out for the new construction together with Michaela Fletcher, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board in Österåker. This is Wallenstam’s second construction start here as 128 rental apartments were initiated in May last year along Norrgårdsvägen.

“It feels great to also be underway with this new production in Österåker Municipality. It means that we are now building about 500 rental apartments in total in central Åkersberga,” says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.

The 300 rental apartments are spread between two blocks near Söra swimming pool and will be constructed around 450 meters from Åkersberga station. The buildings, which will be 4-5 floors high are designed by Belatchew Arkitekter. The apartments will range in size from studio to 4 bedrooms and will have a balcony or patio. Here, there will also be premises, e.g. for cafés or other businesses.

“The work on forming the basis for the transformation of Åkersberga into a modern area with a small-town feel is in full swing. Söra Kvarter, with its premises for businesses on the ground floor, will fit in well with the new look of the town,” says Michaela Fletcher, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board in Österåker.

Preliminary occupation is expected by June 2020–June 2021 and the apartments will be allocated via the Stockholm Housing Agency, Wallenstam’s own queue for new production and some will also be allocated via Armada.
