Popular Hasselssons to expand and open new unit in Inom Vallgraven
In April next year, the successful restaurant Hasselssons, well-known for serving west coast inspired fast food, is opening at Drottninggatan 26 in Gothenburg. Planning of the adaptation of the premises is now in full swing for the successful trio’s third restaurant. Crispy fish and chips, blue mussels cooked in wine and other wonderful flavors from the sea will be served in an area of 91 square meters.
Hasselssons’ journey began in 2013 with a café, which was supplemented with a food truck in Skärhamn. After that, the success story has continued with the popular Hasselssons Matlucka restaurant in Majorna, followed by several pop-up initiatives and a restaurant in Stockholm. Now the childhood friends and owners Oliver Bull and Adam Axelsson are taking the next step and are opening in the Inom Vallgraven district.
“It will be really great to open on Drottninggatan. It feels like a natural step to take, the time is ripe and we are really looking forward to unveiling a new and improved version of Hasselssons. We chose the premises based on pure gut feeling and we look forward to meeting all our new neighbors and to offer Gothenburgers a nice atmosphere with tasty food, appealing aromas and pleasant people, all in an attractive mix,” says Oliver Bull.
“Hasselssons will provide a wonderful new food experience in the Inom Vallgraven district and will be a nice complement to the other businesses here. We look forward to welcoming them to us and to one of our properties that we have recently developed. This is a centrally-located gem with a pleasant passageway and a nice courtyard, which will add that little bit extra to the overall experience,” says Marina Fritsche, Vice CEO and Regional Director for Gothenburg.
The new Hasselssons’ unit will feature an open kitchen, and an uncluttered, comfortable environment that pays homage to Gothenburg’s harbor and the city’s rich fishing culture. A bar will offer a view into the kitchen and there will be seating both inside and outside depending on the season.
“You can expect a familiar Hasselssons if you have visited us before. Partly unchanged, partly new. We are continually exploring new ways of sharing the joy of living and delicious flavors. Quality is important but at the same time we are trying not to take ourselves too seriously. We love to bring together a lot of people in lively places and to offer good food to our guests so this is exactly what to expect at Drottninggatan next year,” says Oliver.
