Pump track for Kallebäcks Terrasser

Mobility is a central issue in the development of Kallebäcks Terrasser in Gothenburg. Even now before the start of construction, the bike is in focus through a completely new pump track, which is being built to be ready for inauguration on April 14. The track at Kallebäcks Terrasser will be one of a total of three pump tracks in the Gothenburg area. The name pump track comes from riders “pumping” their bike instead of propelling it by pedaling. The architect behind the track is Jon Lindgren from Gothenburg who has competed in downhill mountain biking for many years with a number of podium finishes at a national level.

We are very happy to be able to offer a new temporary pump track to Gothenburgers. For the approximately 2,000 new homes planned in Kallebäcks Terrasser, attractive bicycle paths and walkways will be part of the area’s development. The fact that we are already making the bike central in the area during the construction period is totally in line with our mobility plans here,” says Marina Fritsche, Regional Director Gothenburg at Wallenstam.

Apart from the pump track, which will be in place in the area for three years, there is already a mini parkour playground, which was created together with nearby residents, boule courts as well as sitting and green areas. An obstacle course has been built on the hill featuring 15 obstacles of various degrees of difficulty. There is also a BBQ area with a view over the whole of Gothenburg.

“The pump track in Kallebäcks Terrasser will be very accessible for everyone. Often such tracks are located a bit out of the way. Two oval loops are being constructed here that may be connected and used by everyone with a bike,” says Jon Lindgren, the track architect and who by day is a racing cyclist for Göteborgs Stigcyklister (GSC).

Besides approximately 2,000 future homes in Kallebäcks Terrasser, offices, nursery schools/schools, shops, restaurants and other neighborhood services are planned in the area.
