Wallenstam secures land allocations in Österåker
Wallenstam has been allocated land with new construction potential in Österåker, in the northeastern part of Stockholm County. The land allocations are included in the approved zoning plans, which offer the potential for new construction of just over 400 apartments in total, of which about 130 are rental apartments in Norrgårdshöjden and about 270 rental apartments and 10 cooperative apartments at Söraskolan, Österåker.
“We are very proud and happy about the confidence placed in us by Österåker Municipality, which is a totally new municipality for us to build in. We look forward to long-term collaboration and hope to have further opportunities for more construction starts in the municipality in the future,” says Mathias Aronsson, Vice CEO of Wallenstam.
The land allocation for Norrgårdshöjden covers 130 rental apartments with expected production start in March 2018. And the land allocation at Söraskolan covers about 270 rental apartments and 10 cooperative apartments in terraced houses with start of production planned for August 2018.
“Österåker is an expanding and attractive part of the Stockholm region with an above-average population growth trend. We are hoping for a first possible construction start here during 2018,” says Aronsson.
Some 43,000 people live in Österåker and the population doubles in summertime due to people on holidays and other visitors. The chief town Åkersberga is located almost 30 km northeast of Stockholm, or 30 minutes by car, bus or train.
