Incredible Insects at Wave Hill, October 11 & 12, 2014
Deepen your knowledge of the insect world with a family-friendly weekend at Wave Hill! On Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12, get creative at the Teddy Bear Caterpillar Family Art Project. Adorn a sock puppet with fur, yarn, hair and button eyes to make your own cuddly, teddy-bear caterpillar pal.
Continue the fun at Saturday’s Wonderful Woolly Bears nature presentation. Meet live woolly bear caterpillars with an environmental educator from the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum and find out more about the life cycle of these fuzzy, friendly creatures.
On Sunday, round out the weekend with the Family Insect Hunt family walk. Explore the gardens and woodlands with naturalist and educator Gabriel Willow and search for creepy crawlers and critters, all while reveling in the splendor of the autumn season at Wave Hill. Be sure to enjoy the grounds on Columbus Day, Monday, October 13, too—in honor of the holiday, Wave Hill is open from 9AM to 5:30PM!
Events are free with admission to the grounds. Register, where required, at wavehill.org or onsite at the Perkins Visitor Center.
