Wave Hill is a 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. Its mission is to celebrate the artistry and legacy of its gardens and landscapes, to preserve its magnificent views, and to explore human connections to the natural world through programs in horticulture, education and the arts.

Fall Family Fun at Wave Hill

Autumn at Wave Hill offers a bounty of adventurous activities for the whole family! Little ones will delight in experiencing the richness of the changing season, whether they prefer outdoor expeditions or artistic exploration. Every Saturday and Sunday throughout the fall, visitors explore the gardens and make nature-inspired creations at the Family Art Project.  On the second Sunday in September, October and November, the Family Art Project is followed by a Family Walk with a Wave Hill naturalist, highlighting the medley of birds, insects and fall colors that enliven our beautiful grounds.

This fall, immerse yourself in the delights of the natural world with Wave Hill’s diverse offering of gardening, nature and birding programs. Experience the best in fall foliage and flowers in our world-renowned gardens during a Garden or Family Walk, or deepen your knowledge of birds with Fall Birding, an Early Morning Bird Walk or Birding Bootcamp, all led by naturalist Gabriel Willow. Incredible Insects at Wave Hill, October 11 & 12, 2014

Deepen your knowledge of the insect world with a family-friendly weekend at Wave Hill! On Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12, get creative at the Teddy Bear Caterpillar Family Art Project. Adorn a sock puppet with fur, yarn, hair and button eyes to make your own cuddly, teddy-bear caterpillar pal. Continue the fun at Saturday’s Wonderful Woolly Bears nature presentation. Meet live woolly bear caterpillars with an environmental educator from the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum and find out more about the life cycle of these fuzzy, friendly creatures.
