Wematter strengthens its offering to the automotive industry with ESD material for electronic components

Swedish 3D printer manufacturer Wematter is expanding its range of materials with Aurora ESD. The material is used in electronic components, particularly in the automotive industry.

Static electricity is a very serious problem in electronics manufacturing that can damage or completely destroy electronic components. Aurora ESD (short for Electrostatic Discharge) is designed to protect these sensitive components so that electrostatic discharge cannot occur.

Wematter offers advanced industrial technology in a user-friendly all-in-one solution that includes hardware and software. The company’s complete solution also includes the powder material used by the customer for 3D printing, of which one is the standard Aurora PA11 powder. Wematter’s new ESD material is based on Aurora PA11’s proven capacities. It is reinforced with carbon fibre to imbue the material with conductive properties and make the material more rigid.

"After a tough pandemic period, where many supply chains have had to shut down, we are seeing an increased interest from the market in having user-friendly polymer 3D printers with powder embedding technology. With more customer requests, the desire for more customised materials is also increasing. We have had an exciting year working on several different materials at Wematter. It is finally time to launch Aurora ESD, which allows customers to solve distribution challenges. Companies do not need to become vulnerable in the event of a pandemic, for example. They are also able to obtain unique properties at the component level with Wematter’s Aurora ESD. I am proud to present the result of the entire company's investment in new materials," said Robert Kniola, founder and CEO of Wematter.
