Wihlborgs applies a long-term approach to continuously develop in a sustainable direction and has now formed the business area Sustainable Business with representation in the Group Management.

For Wihlborgs, long-term sustainability is a prerequisite for profitable business and a natural part of being a responsible and long-term partner, employer and region-builder.

“We put sustainability on the agenda early on and we’ve always focused on ensuring that our initiatives make a real difference. However, expectations and demands from customers, investors and employees are always rising. To be even stronger in sustainability and really focus on the entire environment, social and governance (ESG) area, we have taken the strategic decision to change the organisation. The new business area Sustainable Business now includes functions such as environment, purchasing, HR, business development and strategic partnerships. We’re also adding new resources to increase the focus on governance and follow-up with sustainability targets,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.

The new business area Sustainable Business will be led by Anna Nambord, who has worked as the Director of HR and CSR at Wihlborgs since 2013 and is part of the Group Management:

“Our employees already have a highly customer-centric focus and are very engaged in city and regional development. Our ambition now is to become even better at systemising, developing and conveying these values to our customers and other stakeholders. I’m convinced that by gathering expertise and showcasing these issues in more forums, our efforts will have a greater impact,” says Anna Nambord.

“We have to practice what we preach. Sustainability is an important cultural issue, where we all have individual responsibility. That’s why this is an area where we need to combine know-how with the ability to drive cultural and change initiatives, and Anna is the perfect person for the job,” says Ulrika Hallengren.

The new organisation will begin operations on 1 March 2020.
