Wihlborgs letting an additional 1,700 m² for police training at Malmö University

Last summer, Malmö University signed an agreement with Wihlborgs for 9,000 m² for police training in Malmö. Now the university has signed a ten-year agreement for an additional 1,700 m², primarily lecture halls.

Police training at Malmö University started in January, and in August the training is moving to Kranen 2 in Dockan. Wihlborgs is currently conducting a substantial redevelopment of this property to meet the need for space for research facilities, firearms ranges, training environments and a garage for police vehicles, among others. These premises will enter operation in July 2019 and the rest will be completed by 1 January 2020.

“Naturally we’re pleased to help supply the university’s need for additional space at the same property. Concentrating functional spaces in one place is of course a strength of ours, and we look forward to welcoming the police training programme to Dockan. Having a mix of workplaces, education and housing is good for development in the area,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs Fastigheter.

In addition to the 10,700 m² that Malmö University will rent, there are development opportunities for another 7,000 m² of office premises at the property.

“The remaining space is on the top floor of the building, and we have plans for creative premises with an exciting industrial atmosphere as an homage to the shipbuilding industry. We’re convinced that this, in combination with Dockan’s unique marine environment and proximity to transportation links, is attractive for a number of different companies and operations,” concludes Ulrika Hallengren.
